The Shimano R55C brake pads for older Dura Ace, Ultegra, 105 and other Road bike and cantilever brakes are based on a hard pad compound that has been specially matched to ceramic rims. They are quiet, stable and gentle on the rim. The braking performance in dry conditions is clearly superior to that in wet conditions.
